Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant supports the head of accounting in day-to-day activities, the preparation of annual financial statements, and the coordination of transfer pricing and value-added tax matters for the bank and its branches in Luxembourg. The position requires 4–5 years of experience in accounting, ideally in the banking sector, as well as knowledge of Luxembourg tax law and IFRS.

Tasks

  • Assist the Head of Accounting with day-to-day accounting tasks for the bank and its branches, including analytical accounting, in close coordination with senior accountants.
  • Contributed to the design and implementation of a robust control environment for the accounting department to improve the reliability of accounting and tax processes.
  • Coordinate with the local accountants at the branches to prepare the annual transfer pricing documentation in a consistent manner across all locations.
  • Preparing monthly and annual sales tax returns for the bank and coordinating with the external tax advisor, the local accountants at the branches, and our clients to ensure consistent application of the sales tax system.
  • Coordinate with Group Tax to prepare the annual transfer pricing documentation for the bank and its branches to ensure compliance with the Group’s transfer pricing guidelines.
  • Assist the Head of Accounting in preparing the bank’s annual statutory financial statements, review the required content in accordance with accounting rules and standards, resolve accounting issues, and ensure compliance with Luxembourg legal requirements, tax matters, transfer pricing, and IFRS accounting; identify and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with senior accountants.
  • Participate in automation and efficiency initiatives related to accounting processes, contributing expertise to improve these processes worldwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; a master's degree or professional certification in accounting or taxation is preferred.
  • 4–5 years of experience in accounting.
  • Experience in accounting for banks and/or financial institutions is required.
  • Experience with Luxembourg corporate income tax, transfer pricing, and documentation.
