Senior Analyst, Middle Office Accounting

The Senior Analyst in Middle Office Accounting at Man Group supports the team in monitoring security prices, NAV calculations, and portfolio valuations, and contributes to process optimization and technical development. The role requires strong analytical thinking, good communication skills, and experience in the financial industry, particularly in the area of derivative financial instruments.

Job Summary

The middle office team is responsible for security price controls, NAV (net asset valuation) calculations, fee modeling, and portfolio valuations using various financial/valuation models/theoretical models. Our existing London-based team independently performs key operational processes and continues to develop comprehensive technical and operational expertise. The team develops tools and testing frameworks, examines our prime broker and custodian systems, and delivers robust reports and analyses. The analyst demonstrates technical expertise and the ability to contribute to process improvements and collaborate on other ad hoc projects.

Tasks

- Review and analysis of financial products and derivatives, including their pricing and profit/loss calculations - Support of daily operational processes, including hedge fund valuations and reconciliations - Working with various technology tools and databases to provide accurate and timely information - Contribution to process improvements and automation initiatives

Technical development

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, controls, and workflows - Learn and apply programming tools to improve financial processes and reports

Stakeholder engagement

- Collaborate with team members and other departments on daily activities and long-term projects - Clearly communicate results and recommendations to various stakeholders

Professional development

- Utilizing training opportunities in technical and financial topics - Developing colleagues' skills through mentoring and providing infrastructure - Contributing ideas for process improvement and efficiency

Requirements

- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems - Attention to detail and strong organizational skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team - Excellent communication skills and confidence in answering questions - Strong numerical skills with a quantitative skill set and comfort - Strong programming skills in a quantitative or analytical field (mathematics, finance and accounting, computer science) - Basic understanding of derivatives - Interest in financial markets and motivation to build a career in the industry
