Senior Analyst, Regulatory Reporting and Financial Accounting
Mae Group is seeking a Senior Analyst in London to coordinate and oversee regulatory reporting and financial accounting. The role involves ensuring compliance, collaborating with external auditors, and assisting team members with complex financial processes.
Purpose of the Role
- This position is part of the London Financial Accounting team and involves senior-level responsibilities for the preparation, review, and monitoring of specific projects that support the Group's regulatory reporting and statutory processes.
- The London Financial Accounting team is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records for the Group’s UK-based operations and group-wide reporting. The team works closely with accounts payable and accounts receivable. They also prepare and submit regulatory and other monthly or ad hoc reports, including the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP).
- This is a hybrid role based in the London office, with significant travel to other locations. No office space will be provided within an individual’s apartment or office. Due to the complex nature of the role and remote work arrangements, we require employees to be based at a local office or to work from home. Those who are willing to commute to the office must be able to provide their own transportation to that location, and we expect them to be available for all business travel as required by the organization. The role holder will also need to be available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, with some flexibility for any meetings that run later. The role holder will be based in the London office with the opportunity to work from home at their discretion. We support working from home and offer a range of flexible working arrangements to suit individual circumstances. Please note that we will not be able to offer paid travel expenses to those working from home.
Specific Responsibilities
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory accounting activities for the Group’s regulated UK entities, in addition to preparing profit center reports and ensuring compliance with accounting policies.
- Prepare and present updates on regulatory reporting and internal risk in financial planning to new managers within the company, emailing other contacts to compile records and share information.
- Monitor regulatory compliance across the Group globally and ensure that it is adhering to relevant policies and procedures.
- Perform monthly financial accounting tasks for an entity within the individual’s area of responsibility, verifying and checking data, recording data in external filings and balance sheets, and maintaining accurate and timely general ledger and account records to ensure that adjustments and balance sheet reconciliations are completed. Prepare and assist in the preparation of tax returns for relevant entities.
- Prepare and submit reports on financial and non-financial information to be presented to regulatory authorities and auditors.
- Liaise with external auditors and suppliers, assisting in the provision of information regarding company matters such as:
- Implement effective controls in collaboration with finance teams across the business (including UAS, Financial Accounting, Taxation, and the Group) to ensure effective tax reporting and processing
- Preparation and presentation of management information to external parties, including new policies, as well as the preparation of VAT and UK GAAP financial statements. Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, analytical reviews, and root cause analysis is a plus
- Providing clear and concise guidance to junior team members.
- Contributing to broader financial control and reporting policies and developing new solutions.
Key Competencies
- Accounting (ACCA/ACCA/CPA certification)
- Experience:
- Proven experience in regulatory reporting within the financial services industry. Strong interest in and knowledge of financial and technical reporting, including experience with UK GAAP statutory reporting. Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, analytical reviews, and root cause analysis is a plus.
- IT Skills:
- Advanced Excel skills and extensive experience with financial systems. Experience with financial accounting systems is preferred. A willingness to learn and use new tools and technologies—including AI—to improve the quality and efficiency of work is helpful.
- Interpersonal:
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex material clearly and concisely, both verbal and written, as well as digital communication skills, with the ability to present complex material clearly and concisely, both
