As a Senior Associate, Cloud Security Engineer at Northern Trust, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure cloud infrastructure for our organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our cloud environments are protected against threats and vulnerabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cloud security architectures for AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms
  • Develop and maintain security policies and procedures for cloud environments
  • Implement and monitor cloud security tools and technologies
  • Collaborate with development teams to incorporate security best practices into application design
  • Conduct security assessments and audits of cloud environments
  • Respond to and investigate security incidents and breaches
  • Stay up to date on emerging cloud security trends and technologies
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of new security solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • At least 3 years of experience in cloud security engineering or related roles
  • Proficiency with AWS, Azure, or GCP platforms
  • Experience with cloud security tools such as AWS Security Hub, Azure Security Center, or Google Cloud Security Command Center
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate, or Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and practices
