Senior Associate, Group Tax
The job posting describes a position as a Senior Associate in the Group Tax department at Man Group in Fort Worth, Texas, where the candidate will be responsible for tax compliance and advisory services for the U.S. business. The Senior Associate will work closely with the company and external service providers to meet tax requirements and to develop and improve processes.
Tasks
- Management of external service providers responsible for Man’s U.S. federal, state, and local tax filing and reporting.
- Overseeing in-house U.S. tax reporting, including calculating and ensuring the accuracy of tax filings, with a particular focus on partnership tax.
- Collaborate with stakeholders within Man to develop, document, and maintain processes for generating information for U.S. tax reporting.
- Manage strategic tax projects and keep senior stakeholders informed of proposed and actual changes in tax law and tax practice that are relevant to Man’s U.S. operations.
- Calculation of U.S. tax liabilities and tax expenses (and related provisions) for all entities within Man's U.S. business.
- Assistance with the preparation of current and deferred tax provisions under ASC 740 and ASC 12.
- Providing critical support and technical expertise to internal and external stakeholders on all matters related to U.S. taxes.
- Managing communication with U.S. tax authorities, drafting responses to correspondence, and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to resolve disputes.
Requirements
- A strong understanding of U.S. federal tax law and a solid grasp of the broader federal, state, and local tax implications for a large, complex, foreign-owned financial services firm.
- Experience with EY/Deloitte or similar international tax systems or agreements and their non-U.S. equivalents.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to break down complex problems into manageable solutions.
- A strong understanding of ASC 740 and income tax accounting.
- The ability to independently research complex tax issues and effectively communicate key points to non-specialists.
- A strong understanding of tax process improvement and control.
- Familiarity with the asset management industry and experience with how an asset manager operates and interacts with advisors and third-party providers is a strong asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to the needs of specific audiences.
