Senior Associate, Group Tax

The position as Senior Associate, Group Tax, at Morgan Global involves providing support with tax advisory services in the areas of M&A, transfer pricing, and structuring, with a focus on U.S. tax law. The salary ranges from $80,000 to $150,000.

Tasks

  • Supporting senior team members in providing comprehensive tax advice to U.S. tax technical specialists.
  • Management of non-compliant investors represented in connection with M&A transactions involving reallocated funds, including compliance and reporting.
  • Monitoring the company's compliance with all applicable U.S. reporting requirements.
  • Supporting Senior Business Professionals in providing all information necessary for service delivery and in maintaining relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Overview of the company's tax reporting responsibilities, including the calculation, review, and organization of the necessary tax working papers.
  • Performing general administrative, clerical, and managerial tasks, as well as direct communication.
  • Conducting research for tax reporting purposes and consulting with tax advisors as needed.
  • Drafting due diligence agreements and responses for the signing and closing of transactions, with a focus on compliance and clarification.
  • Management of tax records and assistance to foreign authorities, including U.S. real estate and local taxes.
  • Research work, such as filing sales tax returns for U.S. entities and advising on U.S. tax law for entities conducting business in the United States.
  • Ensure the preparation of up-to-date, property-specific tax returns that can be used to settle M&A transactions and are compliant with government requirements.
  • Preparing and filing the necessary returns for internal and external stakeholders on an ad hoc basis in connection with the United States, including personal income tax (property tax) in the areas of business, real estate, and taxation for clients such as corporations, trusts, estates, and businesses.
  • Submission of responses and supporting documentation, which must be filed with the clients' offices in England, Maryland, and New Jersey.
  • Managing ad hoc tasks such as data collection, reviewing responses to tax representatives, and collaborating with research and development staff to conduct consultations.

Requirements

  • Solid working knowledge and understanding of U.S. tax law, as well as a general understanding of business operations and how they can affect various business outcomes.
  • A strong understanding of the dynamics that can arise in M&A transactions between the U.S., the U.K., and Canada, and between the U.K. and the U.S., including cross-border structures and their practical application.
  • The ability to be represented through a will and to ensure that the client’s interests are protected, while maintaining the ability to identify, obtain, and review relevant documents, contracts, and other information.
  • Proficiency in applying fundamental financial, mathematical, and other qualitative skills, such as mathematical modeling for tax structures, cash flow analyses, and other predictive information, as well as the analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on a dynamic project involving E&O implementation.
  • A strong commitment to customers and the ability to work well with others. Experience with IAS/IFRS/CIFRS is a plus.
  • Relevant management experience and a requirement for expertise.
  • Proficiency in all core management areas, with advanced knowledge and skills. We are looking for someone with an open mind toward IT or an exceptional track record who can build a significant career in the field of U.S. state corporate tax.
