Senior Business Risk Manager
The Senior Business Risk Manager plays a key role in ensuring the effectiveness and robustness of the internal control and risk management framework in the Private Banking division. Job Description
Within the First Line of Defense (FLoD), the Senior Business Risk Manager (BRM) plays a key role in ensuring the effectiveness, robustness, and continuous improvement of the internal control and risk management framework within the Private Banking (PB) business. The Senior Business Risk Manager reports to the Private Banking COO and acts as a senior risk partner for the business, providing expert advice on non-financial risks, internal controls, and regulatory matters. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, strong judgment, and the ability to interact with senior stakeholders within the organization. The Senior Business Risk Manager works closely with Private Banking support functions and the second and third lines of defense to ensure consistent risk assessment, control execution, and remediation of identified issues.Focus of activities
The main tasks include:- Risk and control management: Design, implementation, execution, and monitoring of the FLoD control structure for private banking, in accordance with the Group risk and control concept.
- Risk assessment and governance: Management of private banking risk assessments in close coordination with the second line of defense.
- Reporting and monitoring: Monitoring and validating daily, monthly, and quarterly control reporting to ensure high-quality, consistent, and meaningful spending.
- Consulting and continuous improvement: Acting as a trusted advisor to the business on risk management, internal controls, and regulatory expectations.
Requirements
The requirements include:- Academic degree in economics, business administration, finance, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in risk management, internal controls, or conduct/operational risks in banking or financial services, ideally in private banking or wealth management.
- Strong understanding of non-financial risks, internal control frameworks, and regulatory requirements applicable to private banking.
- Proven experience working within or alongside the first line of defense, with strong interaction with second and third line of defense functions.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage complex risk issues.
- Strong stakeholder management, with the ability to question constructively at senior management level.
- Advanced analytical and reporting skills; advanced Excel skills required (additional data or risk tools are considered an asset).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (French and/or German are considered an asset).
