Senior Buyer, Asia

The position of Senior Buyer Asia at Julius Baer in Singapore involves overseeing procurement activities in the Asia-Pacific region and implementing procurement strategies. The Senior Buyer Asia supports the Regional Procurement Manager in executing procurement strategies and ensures compliance with global procurement standards.

Tasks

The position of Senior Buyer Asia involves the following responsibilities:
  • Assist the Regional Procurement Head in implementing procurement strategies in the APAC region
  • Management of local purchasing activities, including procurement, contract negotiation, and order processing
  • Providing procurement support to internal stakeholders
  • Negotiation of supply contracts and prices to ensure cost optimization
  • Ensuring that all procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and global standards
  • Support for the implementation of source-to-pay processes
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with local and regional suppliers to ensure effective supplier management
  • Serve as the central point of contact for internal stakeholders to handle procurement-related inquiries
  • Monitoring market trends and identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency

Requirements

The following requirements apply to this position:
  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business administration, supply chain management, procurement, or a related field
  • Recognized professional certification (CIPS, CPA, CIMA, or additional training/experience)
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant procurement experience, ideally in a multinational setting
  • Experience in developing and implementing procurement procedures
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to work independently and focus on results
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A team player who is open, hands-on, a critical thinker, and has excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills; knowledge of other local languages is a plus
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly in Excel and relevant S2P tools

Preferences

The following skills and experience are a plus:
  • Procurement experience in the financial industry
  • Experience with SAP or other source-to-pay modules
  • Knowledge of data protection, technology procurement, and financial market regulations
