Senior Data Science Analyst

As a Senior Data Science Analyst at Man Group in London, you will be responsible for analyzing large volumes of data and developing data-driven solutions to support investment decisions. You will work closely with investment teams to develop creative solutions and design and build data platforms.

The role

As a Senior Analyst on the Data Science team, you will acquire, wrangle, map, and analyze large structured and unstructured datasets to inform investment research and deliver data-driven insights to investment teams. You will serve as a subject matter expert on selected projects—conducting fundamental research, exploratory analysis, and ad-hoc queries. Your responsibilities will span the entire data lifecycle—from vendor sourcing and data ingestion to exploratory analysis and pipeline prototyping.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Collaborate with investment teams to identify data opportunities, propose creative use cases, and recommend solutions to inform investment strategy and decision-making.
  • Acquisition, transformation, and analysis of large, messy, and unstructured datasets to support investment research and decision-making.
  • Contribute to the design and development of our data-driven platforms to streamline the data sourcing process and curate data catalogs.
  • Contribute to company-wide data initiatives and stay informed about industry trends in alternative data.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of proven experience in data wrangling, time series analysis, statistical techniques, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in the Python data science stack (Pandas, NumPy, Spark, Matplotlib) with experience in using AI-powered tools for business users and scalable solutions.
  • Practical knowledge of software, Unix/NIX, and SQL.
  • Ability to present technical findings and concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to proactively identify problems and propose creative solutions.
  • A strong understanding of statistical methods to proactively drive data-driven solutions.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience working with investment professionals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in building ETL pipelines and proficiency in SQL.
