Senior Database Engineer

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer to join our team of experienced engineers and DBAs. The team is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and SQL Server databases.

Tasks

The tasks include:

• Administration and support of Oracle, PostgresDB, MongoDB, and SQL Server databases
• Collaborating with other technology teams to find optimal solutions for Man Group
• Willingness to learn new technologies in this field
• Establishment of a standardized configuration management tool
• Provision of capacity for physical and virtual database servers
• Escalation of problems to the management team in the event of failures
• Collaborating with partners to ensure that the infrastructure meets the speed, scalability, and performance requirements for business-critical applications
• Providing a consistently high level of service for incidents, requests, and changes
• Providing database support and consulting for infrastructure teams, developers, and end users
• Development and maintenance of standards across the entire database inventory
• Participation in the on-call support rotation

Requirements

Required qualifications:

• Deep knowledge of Oracle or PostgreSQL, DBAs
• Professional knowledge of Oracle or SQL Server
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation and configuration management tooling such as Terraform and Ansible
• Proficiency in Linux
• Strong scripting skills (Perl/Python/Unix), PowerShell
• Experience with design/build, maintenance, and updating of large databases (database internals, OS, storage)
• Ability to diagnose and resolve performance issues across the entire stack (database internals, OS, storage)
• Demonstrable ability to automate builds and repetitive tasks
• Resilience to learn and develop new skills in every area
• Strong prioritization and project management skills
