Senior Database Engineer

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join our team of highly skilled engineers and SREs. The candidate will be responsible for managing MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server databases.

Tasks

The role includes:

• Architecture and administration of Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and SQL Server databases
• Collaborating with other technology teams to identify and implement optimal solutions for Man Group
• Willingness to learn new technologies in this field
• Management of build and deployment tools
• Provision of capacity for physical and virtual database servers
• Timely resolution of incidents and impact of outages
• Optimization of performance and management of incidents, requests, and changes
• Providing database support and consulting for infrastructure teams, developers, and end users
• Participation in on-call support rotation

Requirements

The following skills and experience are required:

• In-depth knowledge of Oracle or PostgreSQL DB2, RHELMS
• Practical knowledge of Oracle or SQL Server
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Proficiency in Linux
• Strong scripting skills (Bash/Python/PowerShell)
• Experience with design/build/configuration and deployment (CI/CD pipelines)
• Ability to diagnose performance issues across the entire stack (database/internals, OS, storage)
• Proven ability to automate builds and repetitive tasks
• Resilience to thrive in every area and develop skills
• Strong prioritization and project management skills
