Senior Finance Analyst
The Senior Finance Analyst at Man Group in London will be responsible for managing and continuously improving the data and research cost allocation model, working closely with business partners. The role also includes preparing budgets, managing data, and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
Purpose of the role
As a Senior Finance Analyst, you will work in the Market Data, Fund Recharge, and Payments teams. You will play a key role in operating and continuously improving the data and research cost allocation model to increase efficiency and collaborate with business leaders. You will be responsible for non-financial reporting data and perform data management functions to ensure that data and research costs are understood, appropriately allocated, and well managed.Specific responsibilities
- End-to-end production of the annual data and research budget and in-depth updates throughout the year, in close collaboration with the Science and Sourcing and Finance Business Partnering teams, to manage budgets and provide feedback to ensure the delivery of a cost-effective and appropriately challenging final product
- Manage the tools and data used to calculate data cost allocations to ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness across all functions
- Design, implementation, and monitoring of appropriate controls to ensure that assignments are correctly applied to large datasets
- Identification and Escalation of Discrepancies in Cost Reporting and Budget Variance Analysis to Management
- Conducting month-end and ad hoc inquiries and ensuring that depreciation has been calculated and posted correctly
- Preparation of data and research notes for investment management committees
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the entire company to agree on appropriate assignment methods and provide constructive feedback where necessary
- Enhance the continuous improvement of departmental processes and procedures; proactively identify and address process and system changes wherever possible
- Support for data cleansing activities to ensure accurate data population in systems (Weekday, MDM)
- Participation in ad hoc projects as they arise
Technical skills
- Proven analytical skills, with well-developed numerical and analytical abilities
- 3 years of experience in a similar role at a financial services company
- Proven experience working in a finance team; experience in investment management or investment banking is desirable but not required
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely to a broad audience
- Advanced Excel skills (charts, pivot tables, data analysis, and data visualization) and familiarity with Power BI are desirable, and a knack for data analysis is essential
