Key Objectives and Responsibilities

• Work with business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for new and existing crossing applications
• Collaborate with senior developers to design software that meets the needs of a business-critical trading system
• Make performance and timing improvements to Instinet's crossing systems in accordance with performance engineering best practices
• Take ownership of a portion of a development project's software lineage, from design and implementation through to production.
• Implement solutions in accordance with Nomura's software standards, and support and deliver high-quality software development.
• Work with engineering and change management teams to ensure that changes are smoothly integrated into the production environment.
• Participate in peer reviews of colleagues' code as appropriate to improve quality across the group.
• Provide second-level support for trading system software in the production environment (primarily covering the UK, with occasional weekend and holiday work).

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Experience working in a Java/JavaOS environment (preparing messages on Unix).
• Familiarity with a variety of designs and methodologies (e.g., Agile and Scrum, microservices, distributed systems).
• Strong core Java skills, or Python.
• Good knowledge of SQL, Linux, and networking skills.
