• Senior Java Engineer, Full-Time (f/m/d)
• Contract with our external payroll partner, starting immediately and running through September 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension

• Leading the design and development of a mission-critical native backend system
• Using tools to speed up delivery without compromising on quality
• Technical Leadership in Complex Transformation Programs

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in developing server-side Java applications, preferably in financial or regulated high-performance domains
• In-depth knowledge of Java 21+ and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security, Spring Cloud, Spring Batch)
• Experience with workflow framework languages such as TMBO StreamLine and/or Profiling, Flowable, and Camunda with BPMN
• Expertise in designing systems for high throughput and low latency, using asynchronous processing and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Practical experience in building and operating cloud-native microservices on AWS, Azure, or GCP—including containers (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), service mesh, and cloud storage/services
• Experience in instrumenting observability applications using Micrometer and OpenTelemetry, including the collection of golden metrics (latency, error rate, throughput), distributed tracing across service boundaries, and context-aware logging for proactive monitoring and rapid fault diagnosis in production environments
• Experience in refactoring or integrating monolithic systems into microservice architectures
• Practical experience with AI-powered development workflows and familiarity with integrating generative AI into IDEs and code reviews
• Experience working within the Marmots and/or Trading business domains
• Experience securing APIs and services using OAuth2, JWT, TLS, and identity providers
• Experience with caching mechanisms such as Redis or Caffeine to improve performance and reduce database load in high-throughput scenarios
• Practical experience in designing and using RESTful APIs and gRPC services, including Protocol Buffers definition, bidirectional streaming, and integration in a polyglot microservices environment
• A strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to analyze complex systems and propose effective engineering solutions
• Excellent communication skills—able to explain technical considerations to both colleagues and stakeholders
