Senior Java Engineer - Cloud-Native Backend Development
Julius Baer is seeking a Senior Java Engineer in Zurich with over 8 years of experience to develop cloud-native backend microservices based on Java 21+ and Spring. This is a 12-month contract with an immediate start date and the possibility of extension.

Your Profile
- 8+ years of experience developing server-side Java applications, preferably in the financial sector or other regulated, high-performance fields
- Deep proficiency in Java 21+ and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Cloud)
- Expertise in designing systems for high throughput and low latency, using asynchronous message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Hands-on experience building and operating cloud-native microservices on AWS, Azure, or GCP—including containers (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), service mesh, and cloud storage/services
- Proficient in implementing observability solutions using Micrometer and OpenTelemetry, including metrics collection (latency, error rates, throughput), distributed tracing across service boundaries, and contextual logging to enable proactive monitoring and rapid incident diagnosis in production environments
- Experience refactoring or migrating monolithic systems to microservice architectures
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development workflows and familiarity with common IDEs and code reviews
- Able to work independently as part of a global team and take the initiative with a positive attitude
