Senior Java Engineer

Role Responsibilities

• As a Senior Java Engineer on the Manex team, you will work as part of a team to build and maintain tools for orchestrating Enterprise Exchange and processing data efficiently. This is a hands-on, full-stack role.
• Your work will involve developing data flow strategies and supporting our Java engineers in defining and implementing system designs, as well as maintaining or developing new Management System client libraries, infrastructure, and the environment in which these clients run (Istio & Service Mesh).
• You are expected to have an interest in microservices, build pipelines, and code reviews, as well as mentoring junior colleagues.
• This role is part of our Manex Platform Engineering group, which develops a suite of products to manage the flow of trade data from both MEX markets, while working closely with customers to understand their intended use cases.
• This role is a combination of work with the Manex API product roadmap and the Kube team—you will spend 60% of your time on the new Manex API product roadmap, focusing on agile, self-driven delivery, and the remaining 40% maintaining the current platform services, providing support resources and services to our clients’ Java developers through well-tested Java services.

Our Technology

• Our customer is a Java application that integrates with our internal system, which runs on Go.
• The platform consists of X Java applications for most standard use cases and a suite of microservices hosted both internally and on client environments.
• We use Apache Camel to transmit and receive data between microservices and other systems.
• To determine the current status, we use SQL microservices, frameworks to schedule and synchronize the pipeline, and Kafka.
• We use Java Streams, Kafka, HashiCorp Vault, Akamai API Gateway, the Spring Boot framework, JUnit for unit tests, and Terraform for infrastructure.
• We build our test suites using Spring and Java.

Required

• 5+ years of experience with microservices architectures and Stratus (Spring Boot, Mulesoft, etc.)
• 5+ years of experience with Java development at a practical, production level (including object-oriented programming, enterprise development, standard JEE, Spring 3/4, etc.).
• Ability to create and maintain APIs
• Focus on Java/Java-based applications
• Must have Java Tier-1 or J2SC or equivalent
• Linux/Unix & Solaris - knowledge of these platforms
• Java: JVM, JDBC, multithreading, concurrency, collections
• Web Services—especially JSON and XML

Nice to Have

• Experience in functional programming—a willingness to learn and to write—a practical development tool as part of Java development

Advantages

• All-around expertise in the Microsoft stack—including .NET and, optionally, Python
• Experience with tool suites for end-to-end testing strategies: every module was testable
