Senior Lead - Data Engineering
Northern Trust is seeking a Senior Lead for Data Engineering in Pune, India, with over 10 years of experience in Java, Azure, and cloud architectures. The role involves managing data pipelines, collaborating with various teams, and providing mentoring and leadership to a high-performing team.
Tasks
- Ensure security and compliance from a technological perspective. You will lead the development of data pipelines and system architectures for Northern Trust's digital and data-related initiatives.
- Work closely with other teams (IT, Business Technology, and Risk) to build a reliable and scalable system that meets the company's data and data growth needs.
- As a Senior Lead, this requires a very deep understanding of the responsibilities and the technology stack.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) for collaborating with junior, intermediate, and advanced teams at all levels.
- Excellent leadership skills and the ability to mentor and lead a high-performing team.
- Practical experience with project management methodologies (Agile/Scrum).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- A master's degree and 10+ years of experience in computer science, an MBA, or related fields, as well as 8+ years of relevant experience, are required.
- A solid understanding of software, Azure, and Java-based application development, including the creation of databases such as SQL, PL, and Java.
- Python, React.js, JavaScript, SQL.
- Data access or data management database.
- 3–5 years of experience with Hibernate, SQL, and SQL.
- Advanced experience or DevOps experience.
- A deep understanding of SOA, cloud architecture, and cloud services, as well as containers and security.
- Broad understanding of data platforms and database access.
- Experienced Java developer with skills in object-oriented programming and cloud services (Azure/AWS).
- Familiarity with big data, financial transactions, and an understanding of the risks associated with telecommunications products (Paystack, Breadcrumb, Quartz Billing, NTX, Finbloom, Apple Pay).
Desirable Experience and Skills
- Experience with one or more of the following is desirable: Kafka, Python, NoSQL, C#, containers, and AWS.

Work Hours and Location
- 9-5 (Optional) - It is possible to work from a location other than the office, such as a remote office, at home, etc.
- Fully Remote - This role can be performed anywhere in the world where our organization does not have a physical presence. You can demonstrate the skills required for this role without having to be in an office. This role may involve travel to Southern Europe and the Southern Hemisphere.
- This role can be performed anywhere in the world where our organization does not have a presence, and you will be expected to spend up to 60% of your time traveling to Southern Europe and the Southern Hemisphere.
