Senior Legal Counsel
The job advertisement is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel for a digital asset banking group in Zurich who has experience in legal consulting and administration in banking and can handle complex legal matters independently. The ideal candidate should have a law degree from a Swiss university and at least four years of professional experience in legal consulting in banking.
Tasks
- Provision of legal advisory services in all legal matters relating to the bank
- Legal project management with regard to large banking, regulatory, or corporate projects
- Support for new business concepts and implementation of complex products and innovative business ideas on a solid legal basis
- Providing advice on new products and changes in banking regulation (particularly with regard to Web3 technologies, tokenization, and internationalization)
- Structuring new product features from a legal perspective in close collaboration with the product and development team
- Act as a sparring partner for management and all departments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and requirements
- Calculation and management of risks for business processes and decisions
- Provision of advice regarding legal and regulatory requirements in day-to-day business
- Review and preparation of standardized and non-standardized agreements between the bank and customers, and between the bank and other third parties
- Preparation, review, and negotiation of legal documents such as contracts, declarations, agreements, guidelines, etc.
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and implementing measures
- Supporting the Head of Legal and the General Counsel in various legal matters
- Provision of legal advice on corporate and cooperative law
- Support for internal legal projects and training courses
Requirements
- A law degree from a Swiss university (admission to the bar and additional relevant training such as an LL.M. are advantageous)
- At least four years of practical experience in the banking industry (particularly with regard to regulatory issues, e.g., in connection with FINMA, FIDLEG, FinfraG, or FINIA), in a law firm, and/or in an internal legal department
- Interest in complex and new legal and regulatory issues, interest and knowledge of data protection law are an advantage
- A great team player and communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to defend the legal position to project management and other internal stakeholders.
- Conceptual thinker with strong analytical and technical skills, as well as the courage to provide clear guidance based on your own assessments
- Problem-solving skills and mental flexibility to find pragmatic solutions that support the business with innovative products and business concepts
- Ability to establish cross-departmental connections and think ahead
