Senior Legal Counsel
The Senior Legal Counsel supports Syngum, a global digital asset bank, in legal and regulatory matters, particularly in the area of blockchain and digital assets. The position involves independently drafting contracts, advising executives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Job description: Senior Legal Counsel
Tasks
- Legal advice on all legal matters relating to the bank
- Legal project management for larger banking, regulatory, or corporate projects
- Supporting new business concepts and creating a solid legal framework for complex products and innovative business ideas
- Advice on new products and changes in banking law (particularly in connection with Web3 technologies, tokenization, and internationalization)
- Structuring new product functionalities from a legal perspective in close cooperation with the product and development team
- Act as a sparring partner for management and all departments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and requirements
- Calculation and management of risks in business processes and decision-making
- Advice on legal and regulatory requirements in day-to-day business
- Drafting, reviewing, and revising standardized and non-standardized agreements between the bank and customers, as well as between the bank and other third parties (e.g., terms and conditions such as loan agreements, agreements, guidelines, etc.)
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and implementing measures
- Supporting the Head of Legal and the General Counsel in various legal matters
- Legal advice on legislation and regulations in the field of corporate and cooperative law
- Support for internal legal projects and training courses
Requirements
- A law degree from a Swiss university (admission to the bar and additional relevant training such as an LL.M. is an advantage)
- At least four years of practical experience in banking (particularly with regard to regulatory issues, e.g., in connection with FINMA, FINIG, or FININ), in a law firm, and/or in an in-house legal department
- Interest in complex and new legal and regulatory issues. Interest and knowledge of data protection law are an advantage.
