Our requirements

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to support our legal department and provide expert advice on all legal matters. This role requires a proactive and strategic legal professional with a strong background in financial services, structured finance matters through to CTF, corporate business and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will play a key role in mitigating legal risk and ensuring compliance with Swiss and international law.

Your tasks

  • Legal advice in banking and finance, including financial services, regulatory matters, structured finance matters through to CTF and corporate business;
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders, drafting and negotiating financial agreements such as loan agreements, term sheets, reviewing IT contracts, supplier agreements, etc;
  • Execution and administration of corporate tasks in connection with the administration of the Bank;
  • Reporting and advising the bank's management on compliance with laws and regulations;
  • Regulatory responsibilities, such as interaction with various external stakeholders and supervisory authorities of the bank;
  • Participation in regulatory and compliance-driven projects;
  • Negotiating, coordinating and supervising the management of complex legal matters and key decisions within areas of responsibility;
  • Keeping abreast of industry trends and legal developments in the banking and financial markets to ensure global regulatory compliance.

Your profile

  • Legal education: Law degree (Master of Laws or equivalent) from a recognized university, ideally with a specialization in financial law, commercial law or financial services. Admission to the bar in Switzerland or another reputable jurisdiction is a strong asset.
  • Professional experience:
    • At least 6-8 years of relevant experience in the legal profession, with relevant legal experience in banking, finance or a corporate legal environment, ideally with experience in structured finance, regulatory matters, financial services and transactional work.
  • Skills:
    • Regulatory knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Swiss and international banking regulation, financial market laws and regulatory frameworks.
    • Transactional expertise: Demonstrated experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of legal agreements, including loan agreements, term sheets, supplier/IT contracts and other commercial documentation.
    • Corporate management: experience in managing corporate legal tasks and advising on management matters.
    • Advocacy: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with internal teams, external partners and regulatory authorities.
    • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, at various levels of the organization.
    • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to independently manage complex legal matters.
    • Language skills: Excellent knowledge of German and English (written and oral); knowledge of French would be a plus.
    • Personal qualities:
      • Integrity: A commitment to ethical behavior, confidentiality and handling sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
      • Adaptability: Willingness to take on new and evolving responsibilities in a dynamic banking environment.

      • Possession of a valid Swiss/EU passport or an applicable Swiss work permit (mandatory).
