Senior Murex Developer

As a Senior Murex Developer at Julius Baer in Singapore, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance and optimization of Murex systems and applications in the Commodities (FICC) area. You will work closely with business owners and teams to develop and deliver innovative solutions in an agile environment.

Job description

Tasks

  • Responsible for the design, development and testing of software modules to ensure optimal functionality and integration within complex systems
  • Participation in the planning of Program Increment (PI) within GPS
  • Improvement and configuration management of Murex applications (FICC modules and Java applications)
  • Expert-level support and troubleshooting for internal and external supported software, with a focus on Unix (Linux), SQL and XML languages
  • Configuration and scripting around Murex offerings to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance
  • Design, build, test and deploy new tools, services, dashboards to improve our platform production, with a focus on high availability and minimal downtime
  • Monitoring and ensuring that business-critical services/features are available and running properly in production
  • Planning and troubleshooting of end-of-day (EOD) processes to ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Participate in on-call services for production support to provide prompt and effective solutions to problems and minimize the impact on business operations
  • Availability for production provisioning on one weekend per month
  • Establish new tools, metrics to monitor and optimize application performance to meet changing business needs
  • Continuous improvement of the platform, identification of optimization areas and implementation of changes to increase efficiency and reduce risks

Requirements

Professional and technical requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, system administration or technical support, with a focus on Murex trading applications and platforms
  • Knowledge of Murex MMI, Exchange workflow design and implementation
  • Knowledge of Murex Reporting Datamart or other Murex components
  • Java development experience
  • Experience with messaging systems (e.g. MQ, Kafka)
  • Experience with databases/SQL, related queries (Oracle, Sybase)
  • Experience with agile development methods and versioning systems (e.g. Bitbucket, GitLab, etc.)
  • Environment management with strong expertise in Linux operating systems and bash scripting would be an advantage

Personal and social requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information technology or a related field
  • Financial engineering or programming qualification is desirable
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in a global team setup, take initiative and have a positive attitude
  • Solution-oriented and able to work in an agile setup
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivering high quality results under tight deadlines
