As a Senior Murex System Engineer at Julius Baer, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance and optimization of trading and risk management platforms with a focus on Murex Front to Risk. You will support the FICC business and work closely with the business owners to implement innovative solutions in an agile environment.

Overview

Senior Murex System Engineer

Tasks

  • Actively participate in Program Increment (PI) planning processes within GPS applications
  • Environment and configuration management of Murex applications/FICC modules and Java applications
  • Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for internal and externally supported software, with a focus on Unix (Linux), SQL, and XML languages
  • Configuration and scripting around Murex offerings to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance
  • Design, build, test and deploy new tools, services, dashboards to enhance our platform performance
  • Supervise and ensure that business-critical services/features are available and properly running in production, with a focus on high availability and minimal downtime
  • Schedule and troubleshoot End-of-Day (EOD) processes to ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Participate in on-call duty for production support, providing prompt and effective resolution to issues and minimizing impact on business operations
  • Availability for production deployments one weekend per month
  • Setup new tools, metrics to monitor and optimize applications performance to meet evolving business needs

Requirements

Professional and technical requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, system administration, or technical support, with a focus on financial trading applications and platforms
  • Environment management experience is a must including strong expertise of Linux operating systems and experience in bash scripting
  • Experience with Java application support and scripting languages (e.g. Python, Perl)
  • Experience with messaging systems (e.g. MQ, Kafka)
  • Knowledge of Murex reporting Datamart or other Murex components is advantageous
  • Java development experience is advantageous

Personal and social requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Financial engineering or programming qualification is desirable
  • Excellent command of verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work autonomously in a global team setup to take on initiative with a positive attitude
  • Solution oriented and able to work in an agile setup
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines
  • Able to quickly troubleshoot problems and provide effective solutions
  • Highly motivated blended with a team player spirit
