Senior Network Engineer

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our team in London.

Tasks

- Promote and follow best practices in technology by applying strong engineering skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of industry trends and best practices to develop reliable, high-performance, and robust solutions - Build and manage Man Group’s infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud, using technologies such as Python and Perl - Integrate Ansible, Terraform, and other automation tools with network systems and services - Work closely with business partners to drive business transformations in a dynamic environment - You will demonstrate expert knowledge in delivering complex network infrastructures deployed using software-defined and agile methodologies

Requirements

Essential:

• Operation and Design of Network Infrastructures
• A solid understanding of common Layer 2 and Layer 3 network protocols (DSSP, BGP, PIM, IGMPv3, etc.) and architectures (e.g., spine-and-leaf architecture), as well as best practices for them
• Cisco networks (CSR, IOS, OTV, etc.)
• Troubleshooting Transport Protocols (TCP/UDP)
• Troubleshooting experience with top-of-rack switches and Mininet
• Experience with virtualization (VMware) and containers (PKS)
• Ansible (preferred), Cisco (IOS-XE, NX-OS), Palo Alto (PAN-OS), and SD-WAN (e.g., Cisco)
• Cisco ACI (APIC)

Desirable:

• Previous experience collaborating with suppliers to develop switches for next-generation computing environments
• Knowledge of optical wave technology and testing standards in the 100 to 800 Gbps range, with the ability to test and commission these systems
• Knowledge of L1 and L2 network topologies to operate production infrastructures
• Understanding basic power consumption and cooling issues in a data center environment
• A proactive and hands-on approach to improving system efficiency
• Strong communication skills with the ability to maintain a high level of customer feedback
• A flexible and results-oriented team player who thrives in a collaborative environment but is also self-motivated and capable of working independently
• Familiarity with Python, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and GitHub is preferred
