Senior Network Engineer

Role and responsibilities

The role of Senior Network Engineer includes:

• Promote and adhere to best practices in technology by combining strong engineering skills, attention to detail, and broad knowledge of industry trends and best practices to develop reliable, high-performance, and robust solutions
• Building and managing Man Group's infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud, using technologies such as Kubernetes and leveraging the tech stack
• Integration of Ansible, Terraform, and other automation tools with network systems and services
• Close collaboration with business partners to advance the technological environment
• Expertise in delivering complex network infrastructures using software-driven and agile methodologies

Requirements

Essential requirements:

• Operation and Provision of Network Infrastructure
• Strong understanding of common Layer 2 and Layer 3 network protocols (DSSPP, BOP, PM, IGMPv3, RSVP, BFDv2, spine-and-leaf architecture, and related best practices)
• Juniper Networks (Junos, OLSR)
• Troubleshooting Transport Protocols (TCP/UDP)
• Troubleshooting experience with top-of-rack switches and spine/leaf architectures
• Experience with Arista switches (CVOS), Cisco (IOS-XR-EVO), Palo Alto (PAN-OS), and SONiC-based switches, as well as an interest in exploring new platforms

Advantageous requirements:

• Proven ability to collaborate with suppliers to develop new switches for next-generation computing environments
• Knowledge of optical wave technology and cable standards in the range of 1 to 800 Gbps, with the ability to convert optical standards, design systems, and provide recommendations
• Understanding of basic power consumption and cooling issues in a data center environment
• Focus on automating manual processes to increase efficiency and achieve cost savings
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to maintain a high level of customer feedback
• A resilient and flexible team player who thrives in a collaborative environment but is also self-motivated and independent
• Familiarity with Python, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and Docker Hub is preferred
• BCS/ITIL/TechNivox
