Senior Network Engineer

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering team. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for building and operating platforms that support Man Group’s hedge funds. You should have experience in developing complex network architectures and be prepared to demonstrate expert knowledge in delivering complex network architectures.

Tasks

* Promoting and adhering to best practices in technology through strong engineering skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of industry trends and best practices to develop reliable, high-performance, and robust solutions * Building and managing Man Group’s infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud, using technologies such as Kubernetes, Envoy, Ansible, Terraform, and other automation tools * Working closely with business partners to define requirements in a dynamic environment * Demonstrating expertise in delivering complex network architectures using software-driven and agile methodologies

Requirements

* Experience in the operation and design of network infrastructures * Strong understanding of common Layer 2 and Layer 3 network protocols (DSSPF, BOP, PM, IPMI, IGMP, PIM, etc.) * Network architecture and best practices * Experience with networking (TCP/IP) * Ability to troubleshoot transport protocols (TCP/UDP) * Experience with Juniper Networks and Arista switches (Cisco IOS-IE, EWX-OS), Palo Alto (PA-OS), and SONiC-based switches

Desirables

* Demonstrated ability to collaborate with manufacturers to develop switches for next-generation computing environments * Knowledge of optical technology and cabling standards ranging from 100 to 400 Gbps * Experience with containerization and open-source technologies * Understanding of fundamental power consumption and cooling challenges in a data center environment * Passion for automation and a willingness to increase automation * Clear, communicative style with the ability to maintain a high level of customer engagement * Flexible and reliable team player who can work in a collaborative environment but is also self-motivated and capable of working independently
