Senior Python Engineer

The role

We are looking for Senior Python Engineers to join our technology team and work on a variety of challenges in the areas of systematic trading, quantitative research, real-time data platforms, and applications.

* Design and maintain scalable back-end systems and APIs that support quantitative research and trading infrastructure * Develop and architect compute applications, optimize performance, and implement monitoring and observability tools to ensure system reliability * Build high-performance data pipelines for processing large financial datasets using technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, and/or the GCP data warehouse * Partnering with engineers, researchers, and traders to translate complex requirements into technical solutions that integrate seamlessly with Man Group’s technology * Participating in production support scenarios and contributing to architectural decisions, code reviews, and research and development * Working with the platform team to address performance bottlenecks and scalability issues * You will serve as an evangelist for the use of AI development tools to accelerate delivery and drive their adoption within the team

Requirements

* At least 5+ years of professional experience in software development using an object-oriented language * Strong academic background with a focus on mathematics and computer science * Experience developing mission-critical production systems with knowledge of best practices for testing, monitoring, and deployment * Proficient on Linux platforms and understanding of Git * Strong knowledge of data structures and understanding of SQL * Experience with large volumes of data, both structured and unstructured * Agile experience, e.g., SCRUM or Kanban methods * Endorsed agile engineering—willingness and ability to work effectively with AI-powered development tools in daily workflows
