Senior Quant Developer

The job posting describes a position as a Senior Quant Developer at Man Group in New York, in which the candidate will serve as the technical lead for the discretionary investment teams and develop and maintain Python data and analytics platforms. Tasks

The role involves the following responsibilities:
  • Development, expansion, and maintenance of Python data platforms using Pandas, NumPy, and internal libraries
  • Development and improvement of portfolio analytics, risk reporting, and fund data platforms
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of data lakes for alternative data and infrastructure for portfolio managers and analysts
  • Development and maintenance of FastAPI and Flask backends, as well as React/TypeScript frontends, using a shared component infrastructure
  • Design and deployment of services for Kubernetes to manage Algos and scheduled data workflows
  • Collaboration with engineers based in London and Sofia on cross-team initiatives

Requirements

The following requirements are necessary:
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering with a strong track record of delivering results
  • Strong Python skills; test-driven development; modular, production-ready code; familiarity with DevOps tools: Kubernetes, Helm, ODP, design patterns
  • Previous experience with Python, particularly in the areas of portfolio management, risk, or investment operations
  • Knowledge of Pandas and NumPy; building efficient data pipelines and transformations at scale
  • AI/LLM expertise; experience building or integrating LLM-based tools
  • Familiarity with a Lean/Agile environment, including CI/CD, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Autonomy; no need to adhere to the technical design; you’ll reach the right people early on and escalate issues
  • Strong communication skills; you can clearly explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders and effectively navigate and influence them
  • Autonomy; you manage your own priorities; tackle large projects early on and work toward completion with a reasonable degree of autonomy
  • CEng or ISTQB expert certification, or equivalent practical experience
