Senior Quant Developer
Man Group is seeking a Senior Quant Developer with experience in developing Python data pipelines and applications who will serve as the technical point of contact for stakeholders in New York. The Senior Quant Developer will be part of a team working at the intersection of the company’s Discretionary and Solutions businesses and leveraging innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Tasks
- Build, extend, and maintain Python data pipelines using Pandas, NumPy, and internal libraries
- Develop and enhance portfolio analytics, risk reporting, and fund data platforms
- Contribute to TIG (Technology Infrastructure Group) on the automation of business processes—research databases with vector search, and AI interfaces for portfolio managers and analysts
- Build and maintain FastAPI and Flask backends and/or standard or prototype frontends using our shared component infrastructure
- Provide display services to Kubemates to manage Airline (SRE) for scheduled data workflows
- Collaborate with engineers based in London and Sofia on cross-team initiatives
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary technical contact for Discretionary and Solutions stakeholders based in New York
- Gather requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and manage expectations
- Work closely with portfolio managers, analysts, and quants—understanding their workflows is important when writing code
Production Operations
- Ensure the stability of the systems in your portfolio—investigate data quality issues, triage support requests, and manage incident response
- Automate operational processes

Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering with a strong track record
- Strong Python skills; best practices; reproducible code; contributing to GitHub; software engineering, Git; extensive experience with CI/CD; DevOps; design patterns
- Previous experience in quantitative analysis—particularly in portfolio management, risk management, or investment operations
- Pandas/NumPy proficiency; building efficient data pipelines and transformations at scale
- Airflow/LUM Hosting – Experience with setting up or integrating LUM-based tools
- Self-sustaining discipline; analyst; unit tests; integration tests – writing tests is second nature to you
- Proficient in low-code environments using GitLab; Agile; software craftsmanship; and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong communication skills; you can clearly explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders and translate technical ideas into clear business outcomes
- Self-directed; you manage your own priorities; identify obstacles early on; and drive the work to completion with appropriate autonomy
- CEng or equivalent
Additional skills
- React or TypeScript/React for front-end development
- Experience with web APIs; building and consuming RESTful services (e.g., ENTAP, Flask, or equivalent)
- C++ or other languages; proficiency in C++ and Java
- AI/ML experience; knowledge – solutions are developed in .NET
