Senior Quantitative Researcher - Algo

About the role

We are looking for a highly qualified researcher with a primary focus on futures, whose responsibilities will include:

• Generation of high-quality, predictable intraday alpha signals in futures markets, ranging from sub-second to hourly timeframes, from end-of-day to overnight, and intraday
• Development of machine learning techniques to advance alpha research
• Development of deep market impact models
• Solving complex optimization problems
• Identification of targeted P&L opportunities
• Close collaboration with researchers throughout the Man system

Technology and business skills

Essential:

• 4+ years of professional experience on the buy-side
• Experience in developing intraday alpha signals for futures markets
• A deep understanding of statistics/HMM and the ability to apply it to real-world problems
• Expert knowledge in high-level languages such as Python
• Excellent analytical skills, recognized by colleagues as an expert in their field
• Strong ability to conduct independent research, work as part of a larger team, and manage multiple stakeholders

Advantages:

• Knowledge of the market structure, participants, trading venues, and microstructure of at least one of the major asset classes
• Experience with deep neural networks
• Experience with processing large volumes of data and big data

Personal characteristics

• A PhD or near-PhD. Man Group's quantitative researchers are PhDs or near-PhDs in a quantitative field
• Intellectual integrity combined with a sharp analytical approach to problem-solving
• Ability to deliver projects with high commercial value and projects across the entire company
• A proactive approach to work, with the ability to effectively manage time across multiple projects and competing deadlines
• Well-organized, capable of handling multiple projects
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain close working relationships with quantitative researchers, technologists, traders, and senior business partners
• The ability to communicate effectively and clearly explain complex ideas and difficult topics with confidence
