Senior SQL Server DBA

Tasks
- Administering and managing the SQL Server Database Estate
- Collaborate with users and teams in other technology teams to find best solutions for Man Group
- Willingness to learn new technologies in this area
- Design and implementation of standard database automation tools
- Capacity planning for the physical and virtual database server state
- Ensuring high infrastructure availability and minimizing downtimes
- Maintaining a high level of service across all infrastructure teams, developers and end users
- Database support and consulting across the SQL Server database state
- Participation in On-Call-Support-Rota
Requirements
Required experience
- Willingness and ability to be innovative
- Close connection and ability to work with senior leads and IT staff
- In-depth knowledge of SQL Server 2012 to 2022
- Advanced scripting skills in Python, PowerShell and/or T-SQL
- Experience in setting up and managing VMs and Linux
- Experience with the configuration and setup of clustering, mirroring
- Experience with performance, availability groups and database mirroring
- Strong knowledge and experience with SQL Server database tuning techniques in the environments: Stock; databases internal, operating system, storage and networks
- Proven ability to automate builds and repetitive tasks
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in any area
- Flexibility to focus on the delivery of projects and tasks
- Ability to prioritize projects and tasks
Desired experience
- At least 5 years of experience in SQL Server database administration and engineering
- Experience with migration to database technologies, including but not limited to: Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL and/or NetSQL
- Experience with the delivery of cloud offerings and installations, for example Azure SQL, PostgreSQL and/or AWS
- Development and interpretation of systematic performance monitoring and metrics
- Desire to learn and understand more about the business environment in which you work
