Senior Staff Engineer (80-100%)

Tasks

As a Senior Staff Engineer, your primary mission is to advance engineering throughout the company. This includes:
  • The establishment and further development of technical standards, patterns, and practices across all teams.
  • The design and implementation of secure, scalable backend systems in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Mentoring engineers and tech leads on system design, performance, and security-focused practices.
  • Promoting observability, testability, and operational resilience, including incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Pioneering work in introducing AI-assisted development (Claude Code) and designing best practices for integrating these tools into engineering workflows.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate:
  • Has more than 10 years of professional experience in systems engineering or a similar position.
  • Has experience designing and implementing complex backend systems in regulated environments.
  • Has a good understanding of system performance, observability, and secure software development.
  • Has a proven track record in creating resilient, fault-tolerant systems.
  • Has proven experience in mentoring and cross-team persuasion in technical decisions.
  • Has expert knowledge of Java (Quarkus) or Node.js (NestJS) and is willing to learn the other technology.
Bonus points for experience with:
  • Domain-Driven Design
  • Clean Architecture
  • Test-driven development
  • Event-driven architecture
