Senior Stewardship Analyst
The Senior Stewardship Analyst at Man Group in London is responsible for implementing stewardship strategies, including proxy voting and engagement, and supports the firm’s investment decisions. The role involves overseeing proxy voting activities, conducting engagements with companies, and developing reports and guidelines related to stewardship.
Purpose of the role
The Senior Stewardship Analyst will be part of the Stewardship Team, which is part of Man Group’s Responsible Investment Group. The candidate will focus on implementing stewardship strategies, including proxy voting and engagement, across Man Group’s investment opportunities.Specific responsibilities
- Proxy voting- Monitors our daily relationship with our proxy voting research provider
- Ensures consistent and informed proxy voting practices, including timeliness and completeness
- Collaborate with Stewardship Team members to conduct further analysis of third-party research and recommendations to ensure that we align with our company policies and/or client requests
- Serves as the primary point of contact for portfolio managers to provide guidance on complex coordination issues
- Proactively maintains and updates reconciliation reports for various stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve reporting quality and efficiency
- Set up new proxy voting funds by completing the necessary documents and collaborating with our proxy advisor and the legal departments
- Monitors the establishment of share accounts through Man’s control mechanisms to minimize proxy voting risks and deficiencies
- Works with portfolio managers and other investors to achieve tangible results at the portfolio companies
- Provides corporate dividends, third-party research, and other available resources to conduct non-financial analysis, assess companies’ compliance with ESG standards across various industries, and support engagement initiatives
- Identifies engagement priorities for targeted engagements aimed at achieving our ESG/RI goals, prioritized based on materiality frameworks and strategic importance
- Leads engagements with portfolio companies on issues such as climate change, biodiversity, human rights, and corporate governance matters
Reporting and Policy Updates
- Oversees the preparation of engagement and proxy voting reports in due diligence questionnaires (DDQs) or requests for information (RFIs) to ensure the consistency and quality of responses and to monitor annual analyses - Oversees the development and maintenance of stewardship guidelines and plays a leading role in ensuring compliance with international disclosure requirementsTechnical skills
- A degree in finance, economics, business administration, law, or another relevant field - e.g., CFA, CAIA, or equivalent; CFA Level I; certificate in ESG investing or another relevant qualification (preferred) - Knowledge of policy issues related to corporate governance, engagement, and stewardship, as well as shareholder rights and obligations and/or similar areas - Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office - A proven self-starter attitude; Structured and proactive - Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, take initiative, and add value to the team - Effective communication and interJob details
