Senior Storage Automation Engineer

The Senior Storage Automation Engineer at M Group is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining hybrid storage and backup systems. The role involves automating administrative tasks through scripting and collaborating with development teams to ensure performance and capacity.

About the Role

  • The Storage team is a team of data engineers. The Platform Engineering department is a fast-growing team of highly skilled professionals who deliver solutions. They combine proactive, agile performance with sustainable infrastructure to support an agile organization.
  • We are in the process of transforming our storage infrastructure into the most advanced hybrid model, and from an on-premises environment, we can typically migrate to a combination of on-premises, cloud-managed, and non-cloud technologies, along with enterprise storage products from vendors such as Pure Storage, Nutanix, and AWS. We support these groups.
  • Technologies used at M Group include: Pure Flash Arrays and FlashBlade, VMware VSS, SAN, NetApp, Datto Pure Storage, NetApp FlashBlade, AWS & Flash, All Accra Cloud Storage, OCTS storage products, Fibre Channel, and Datavault (Portico, PureVault, NetVault, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the storage and backup platforms in New Avalon are reliable and deliver the required performance levels
  • Help manage capacity by ensuring we have sufficient performance and capacity to meet business needs
  • Use open-source software and scripting to build tools for administration, monitoring, and capacity management tasks
  • Get involved in every stage of storage projects, from design to implementation to support and maintenance
  • Work closely with the development and operations teams to collaborate on proactive, high-performance storage
  • Communicate effectively throughout the organization, both in writing and verbally

Key Competencies

Required

  • Excellent verbal communication, presentation, and technical skills
  • Experience with scripting on one or more of the following platforms: Bash, PowerShell
  • Experience with PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages
  • Our client's utility skills, along with the ability to identify and resolve any performance issues
  • Specialized management of two or more enterprise storage systems

Advantageous

  • Experience with Jumbo Storage, Backup, and Storage Media Technologies
  • Experience in Operational Support
  • Experience in the automation of Windows, Linux, VMware, and network technologies
  • Experience with cloud technologies
