Senior System Architect - Client Lifecycle Management (CLM)

Julius Baer Bank is seeking a Senior System Architect for its Client Lifecycle Management program to define and implement solution architectures. The successful candidate will play a central role in the Global IT Architecture department and should have experience in software solution architecture as well as knowledge of modern architecture styles and tools.

Tasks

  • Ensure that the architecture is aligned throughout the entire software lifecycle, from conception to testing, release, and operation.
  • Identify, document, and manage architectural debts that arise from discrepancies between transition implementations and long-term goals.
  • Initiate and formalize important decisions through Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and secure approval from the relevant architecture committees.
  • Advise and support software engineers and tech leads in technical implementation to ensure feasibility, scalability, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with product owners to refine business requirements, translate requirements into manageable skills and building blocks
  • Active participation in the global domain architecture board; presentation of blueprints, review of peer designs, and co-design of the overall target architecture
  • Enforcing architecture governance in development teams and adhering to quality standards during delivery

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a senior architect and 5+ years in senior/lead software engineering roles with prior experience in highly regulated industries, ideally banking or financial services
  • Full responsibility for solution architecture—from conception to implementation and operation
  • Demonstrable ability to evaluate architectural alternatives and find reasonable compromises under constraints
  • Knowledge of analyzing complex business requirements and transforming them into robust, scalable technical solutions
  • Strong knowledge of modern architectural styles: microservices, event-driven systems, modular monoliths
  • Familiarity with integration patterns, Kafka, data streams, Kubernetes, and hybrid cloud/on-premise environments
  • Professional knowledge of UML and Archimate modeling, with practical experience in using EA tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect
  • Good understanding of BPMN 2.0 and business process modeling
  • Deep knowledge of DevOps practices and software engineering excellence
