The Julius Baer Group is seeking a Senior System Architect for Client Lifecycle Management (CLM) for a full-time position in Zurich. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and implementing solution architectures for the CLM program, as well as ensuring architecture governance within the development teams.

Tasks

As a System Architect on the Global IT Architecture Team, you will play a key role in defining and delivering solution architectures for the Client Lifecycle Management (CLM) program. Your responsibilities include:
  • Ensure architectural consistency throughout the entire software lifecycle, from design to testing, release, and operation phases.
  • Identify, document, and manage architectural debt resulting from discrepancies between transitional implementations and long-term goals.
  • Initiate and formalize important decisions using Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and obtain approval from the relevant architecture boards
  • Advise and support software engineers and tech leads during technical implementation to ensure feasibility, scalability, and compliance
  • Collaborate with product owners to refine business requirements and translate them into manageable capabilities and building blocks.
  • Actively contribute to the Global Domain Architecture Board; present blueprints, review peer designs, and contribute to the overall direction of the target architecture
  • Enforce architectural governance across development teams and maintain quality standards throughout the delivery process

Requirements

For this position, we are looking for candidates with:
  • 3+ years of experience as a Senior Architect and 5+ years in leadership or senior software engineering roles, with prior experience in highly regulated industries, ideally in the banking or financial services sector
  • Full responsibility for solution architectures—from design and implementation to operational constraints
  • Demonstrable ability to evaluate architectural alternatives and find reasonable compromises under constraints
  • Ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into robust, scalable technical solutions
  • Strong knowledge of modern architectural styles: microservices, event-driven systems, modular monoliths
  • Familiarity with integration patterns, Kafka, data streaming, Kubernetes, and hybrid cloud/monolithic architectures
