Senior System Architect, ML & AI, Full-Time (f/m/d)

Tasks

• Responsibility for defining and coordinating the end-to-end ML and AI platform architecture as well as the solution architecture, including hands-on work on specific solution design and implementation.
• Independent and collaborative management of architectures, applications, and/or platform components in production.
• Ensure that the solution architectures currently in deployment comply with architectural standards and are aligned with the domain's target architecture.
• Initiating architectural decisions, documenting them as Architecture Decision Records (ADR), and obtaining approval for them from the relevant architecture boards.
• Providing consulting and coaching to software engineers on the implementation of solution architectures and ensuring technical feasibility.
• Application and refinement of the ART Levels target architecture in the context of teams and initiatives.
• Promote practical architectural design for AI and ML solutions within teams, while ensuring consistency with delivery requirements.
• Support the implementation of key ART initiatives (e.g., the AI automation operator level) by translating the high-level architecture into concrete solution designs.
• Ensuring alignment and integration with enterprise platforms, data capabilities, security standards, and MLOps services.
• Identifying architectural risks, dependencies, and technical debt at the team and solution levels, and enabling proactive mitigation measures.
• Contribution from Architekturinput to planning, backlog refinement, and roadmap discussions to balance delivery and feasibility goals.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned teams in the area of architecture, working closely with the Lead Architect and other system architects.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a Senior Architect in complex IT environments.
• At least 5 years of experience as a lead or senior software engineer, with hands-on responsibility, including practical experience with AI/ML solutions and platforms.
• Responsibility for solution architectures: from design and implementation to operations.
• Ability to identify options for solution architectures and make trade-off decisions regarding architecture.
• Collaborative development and coordination of solutions with business and technology stakeholders, as well as architecture colleagues.
• A proactive approach, the ability to work under pressure, and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain architectural topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Additional certifications are a plus (e.g., Azure, cloud architecture, or AI/ML-related certifications).
• English: business-level proficiency.
• A solid foundation in software and system architecture, including modern architectural styles such as event-driven architectures, microservices, and modular monoliths.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and platform integration patterns.
