Senior Systems Engineer
Man Group is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to build and maintain the infrastructure for the company’s investment strategies. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Infrastructure-as-Code solutions, configuration management, and automation.
Job description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the infrastructure that enables our investment strategies and supports our business processes.Tasks
- Building and maintaining large-scale infrastructure automation platforms that manage tens of thousands of CPU cores and hundreds of terabytes of storage for our Python-based quantitative research and trading platform. - Designing infrastructure-as-code and configuration management solutions using tools such as Terraform and Ansible to provision and manage our on-premises resources. - Operation and maintenance of production solutions across multiple environments. - Creation of self-service systems that support hundreds of users within Man Group. - Collaboration with data engineering platforms such as Apache Spark and Apache Cassandra to deliver a scalable data architecture. - Collaboration with business partners in a dynamic environment where infrastructure directly impacts business outcomes.Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Puppet, Terraform, Chef, or Salt. - Previous experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in production environments. - A solid understanding of monitoring and observability best practices, including experience with tools such as Prometheus or similar. - Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and use Linux-based systems (Ubuntu, RHEL, or similar). - Previous experience with orchestration frameworks using tools such as Jenkins or GitLab Actions. - Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices and infrastructure platforms. - Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. - Ability to work across geographical boundaries and collaborate effectively with a globally distributed team.Proven skills
- Experience with container technologies beyond Kubernetes (Docker, Containers). - Experience with clusters of over 1,000 nodes and tools such as k8s/OKD/Plus. - Experience with security and access management practices using HashiCorp Vault. - Understanding of storage pools and their integration into modern system architectures. - Experience in financial architecture or other large-scale distributed systems. - Self-organized with the ability to set priorities and effectively manage time across multiple projects. - Well-organized with strong communication and problem-solving skills to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. - Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in technical communities are a plus.We offer
