Senior Tax Manager - Global Private Bank

The Senior Tax Manager supports Global Private Bank clients with cross-border and local tax requirements and identifies, assesses and mitigates tax risks within HSBC guidelines. The focus is on providing technical advice, preparing tax returns and developing internal processes in the area of international tax.

Job description

As a Senior Tax Manager in the International Tax team, you will be part of the Client Tax team and support clients with their cross-border and local tax needs. Under the direction of the Head of Client Tax Team and in line with HSBC's policies and procedures, you will identify, assess and mitigate tax risks and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws. In this role you will:
  • Provide technical advice on international tax issues for cross-border activities
  • Prepare and review tax returns and schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant tax regulations
  • Build and maintain relationships with other departments and senior management to anticipate and coordinate cross-border tax moves
  • Provide technical expertise on regulatory and international tax issues for business units and functions within the bank
  • Create internal processes for international tax services. Develop and review internal tax policies and procedures and ensure they are properly understood and implemented through training materials and updates on changes
  • Provide assistance with cross-border and tax legislative management tasks. Focus on providing guidance and support for tax queries
  • Interact with the bank's legal department to proactively manage and mitigate tax risks

Requirements

  • High integrity and ability to work collaboratively in the context of comprehensive digitization
  • Significant experience in a tax area, e.g. in implementing and pursuing transformative tax changes
  • Solid knowledge in tax law and regulation and ability to create and implement a tax control process
  • Strong experience in analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • PC skills, including Word, Excel, and basic knowledge of internet search engines
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of French and other languages may be an advantage
  • Due to immigration restrictions in Switzerland, we only consider applications from Swiss or EU citizens or candidates with a Swiss work permit
