Senior Tax Manager

Tasks

This is a highly responsible internal position. You will serve as the primary internal tax advisor while managing external consultants and working closely with the Finance, Legal, Compliance, Regulatory Reporting, and Head Office teams. The role covers the full spectrum of U.S. tax, from compliance and provision to planning and transaction support. You will lead U.S. tax matters for the operations of a foreign banking organization, including compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, tax governance, reporting, and advisory support for affiliated entities.

Responsibilities

• Responsibility for tax compliance at U.S. federal branches/agencies, including compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Management of tax returns for income and corporate taxes, withholding taxes, branch allocations, and specific returns for financial institutions
• ASC 740 Income Tax Accounting: Commissions, Deferred Taxes, Uncertain Tax Positions, and Financial Reporting
• Advice on new products, corporate structures, cross-border transactions, and strategic reorganizations
• Tax support for affiliated broker-dealers and regulated entities, as applicable
• Maintaining the tax control framework and ensuring audit readiness
• Managing relationships with external consultants and coordinating with the head office on global tax policies and transfer pricing

Requirements

• 7+ years of tax experience in the banking industry, foreign banking organizations, broker-dealers, or regulated financial institutions
• CPA, MST, JD, or equivalent advanced tax qualification preferred
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal and state taxes for financial institutions
• Practical experience with ASC 740 in a complex or multinational environment
• Previous experience working at a bank or a foreign bank branch is strongly preferred
• Excellent judgment, communication, and stakeholder management skills
