Senior Associate, Software Engineering

Northern Trust is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Chicago for its Wealth Management division to develop and maintain agile software solutions for client-facing applications. The position requires at least five years of experience in software development, ideally in the financial sector, as well as proficiency in Java, Python, and cloud technologies.

Tasks

  • Wealth management support for clients, partnerships, operations, and clients.
  • Development, launch, and iteration of multiple projects using agile practices and release management as a software engineer on an agile development team.
  • Development and maintenance of software solutions to support customer-oriented applications.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that meets the needs of customers and stakeholders.
  • Design, development, testing, and maintenance of software applications.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements.
  • Identifying and resolving software bugs and performance issues.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other developers.
  • Staying up to date on emerging technologies and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in software development, preferably in a financial services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the platform and an understanding of customer and financial data structures.
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, or similar programming languages.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Desired Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Certified Developer.
