Senior Lead, Architecture Solutions
Northern Trust is seeking a Senior Lead for Arch Solutions in London who, as an architect, will develop technical and functional solutions for financial services platforms and manage infrastructure solutions (e.g., Azure/GCP). The role involves defining application-based architectures, coordinating between business and technical teams, and leading software development initiatives.
Tasks
- Provide support in evaluating, prioritizing, and planning technical solutions; conduct software analyses of complex business requirements; and serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams.
- Testing and debugging (design, troubleshooting, documentation, etc.).
- Participate in establishing new and maintaining existing supplier relationships.
- Promoting the exchange of experiences through consultation, presentations, and documentation.
- Implementing complex initiatives that span multiple disciplines and/or involve ambiguous problems.
- Adopting a balanced, cross-functional perspective and collaborating with the business unit to improve effectiveness and productivity.
- Strategic development, implementation, and management of programs within the functional areas.
- Providing leadership and guidance to employees; creating an environment that fosters teamwork and communication.
- As an architect for the technical team, collaborate with the product delivery teams to establish a baseline.
- Participation in the design process for moderately complex to complex applications (web and mobile).
- Collaborate with the infrastructure team to implement the necessary configurations for automating platform releases.
- Conducting capacity planning and performance tuning for applications.
- Management of IT changes, incidents, and release issues.
- Leading activities related to application deployment.
- Providing technical and/or software requirements and architecture across multiple projects.
Requirements
- Specialized software expertise in one or more key areas, including Azure or GCP, ServiceNOW, or WebSphere/microservices.
- Ability to define application architecture using Azure or GCP.
- Knowledge of the architecture of infrastructures that support applications (e.g., IIS, SQL Server, and WebSphere).
- An understanding of computer architecture and the principles of software design.
- Knowledge of computer networks and data communication.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to develop and test software.
- Knowledge of several high-level languages and the assembler language is required.
- A degree in computer science or a related field and experience in infrastructure methodologies, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in software development.
- Experience with at least one programming language (Java, C++, Python, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with agile methods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
