Senior Lead – Cloud Operations Control Business Partner
Northern Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Lead for Cloud Operations Control in Pune, India, with at least 9 years of experience to lead operational control, compliance, and audit processes for cloud infrastructure. The role requires in-depth expertise in cloud governance, ITSM processes, and stakeholder management to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Tasks
- Partner with engineering teams to enable cloud-driven insights and dashboards for operational and risk insights.
- Drive the development and implementation of data, risk, and operations leadership in operational controls and compliance practices.
- Collaborate with:
- Infrastructure (CrossIT Governance)
- Cloud Operations (Work [CIT])
- Network Operations
- DMLS/NWMI teams
- Operations T1/4
- Lead process-driven global teams to ensure consistent operating models and accountability.
- Audit, Compliance, and Escalation:
- Lead the resolution of issues identified in internal and external audits.
- Work closely with relevant stakeholders, operations support, and audit leaders.
- Build the audit operations playbook using:
- Vulnerability Remediation Assessment
- Compliance Assurance
- Performance Benchmarking
- Continuous Improvement & Capacity Building:
- Implement robust training, operational effectiveness, and self-service adoption among application leaders.
- Establish robust global audit practices through best practices in governance, quality, and rapid integration.
- Promotes a culture of accountability, automation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Core Competencies:
- Deep expertise in cloud operations, governance, or control functions, with 10+ years of retail experience.
- Proven track record in:
- ITSM processes (Incident, Change, Problem, Release)
- Cloud platform factors (networked SaaS/OCC operations)
- Automation and workflow orchestration
- Observability, monitoring, and operational reporting.
- Familiarity with:
- Cloud concepts: AWS (Core 10 Competencies (preferred))
- Governance or risk-oriented FIMS tools (GRC) and DevOps operating practices.
- Leadership & Soft Skills:
- Strong stakeholder management across engineering, operations, and risk teams.
- The ability to exert influence across geographic regions and foster cross-functional alignment across platforms.
- Excellent communication skills with experience leading executive-level updates.
- Strategic thinking combined with a strong focus on automation, scalability, and delivery.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in audited environments: Financial Services Operations.
- Exposure to audit evidence testing and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Certifications:
- Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- ITIL / ITensor/COE
- Security (CISSP/CIDA)
- Key Business Metrics:
- Reduction in unresolved vulnerabilities / catch-all exceptions
- Improvements in SLA adherence and automated coverage.
- Improved audit readiness and compliance scores.
- Clear visibility across T1/6 and operations teams.
