Sr. Lead, Infra Mainframe
The Sr. Lead, Infra Mainframe is responsible for assessing and implementing technical activities related to mainframe infrastructures and is expected to ensure implementation of product upgrades and adherence to architectural standards. The candidate should have experience in mainframe system administration, z/OS system programming and problem solving.
Job description: Sr. Lead, Infra Mainframe
Tasks
- Assess and review technical activities with the implementation team for a major product upgrade in a production environment, evaluate risks and recommend actions to mitigate/minimize these risks.
- Define and document mainframe infrastructure architecture standards and best practices.
- Creation of low-level design documents to meet the requirements of high-level design.
- Creation of detailed implementation plans for all mainframe infrastructure engineering activities.
- Procurement activities in connection with the development and delivery of new services (projects).
- Ensure a smooth transition/handover to Production Support Operations in line with the agreed Operational Acceptance Process.
- Architecture support for the creation and maintenance of a mainframe infra-delivery roadmap.
- Support the architecture in defining the activities required to create the high-level design.
- Architecture support for proof-of-concept activities.
- Ensure skills are current and up to date to deliver change and provide a high level of support.
- Provision of escalation support for complex troubleshooting of major incidents, if required.
Requirements
- Mainframe system administrator activities.
- z/OS system programming.
- Performance tuning, system upgrades, troubleshooting.
- System management support with SMPF, SMF, RIMF.
- Knowledge of service systems (storage management, job management, workload management and data management).
- Mainframe awareness (z/OS product functionality, renewal and cost model, maintenance and support policy).
- Knowledge of z/OS system libraries, z/OS components and mainframe system hardware architecture.
- Technical, practical experience with ACF2, VTAM, FAQ and CICS.
- Disaster planning and recovery: planning for and recovering from disasters.
- Product roadmap: Maintenance of product roadmaps that include modernization, cloud solutions, high availability and technical debt.
- Security and compliance: Ensuring compliance with industry standards for security and audit.
- Problem identification and solution: Identifying and solving system-related problems.
