Senior Lead Software Engineer - AI Security Platform

About the role

Northern Trust’s AI Security Platform is currently used by various business units and is expected to grow rapidly, as everyone at Northern Trust considers the security of their data a top priority. We help implement and monitor security measures, and we expect you to be part of a team of engineers and platform support specialists to secure workflows, enforce security controls, and manage platform user access. This role leverages the AI Security Platform to drive AI-powered automation for security use cases such as model security scans, vector integrity checks, and automated model risk management.

As the Northern Trust platform team, we maintain the AI Security Platform, which helps ensure the security of our AI platform that supports the use of AI in the regulated banking sector. The platform is responsible for performing security checks, providing a high-performance vector database, and offering a secure interface to the platform for users.

Tasks

• Development of and responsibility for end-to-end module implementations across the entire stack
• Modeling business and customer requirements into detailed technical solutions
• Expanding and Improving Integrations
• Contribution to Architectural Decisions and Platform Design
• Mentoring engineers and participating in technical planning
• Participation in architectural discussions and contribution to system design
• Responsibility for the end-to-end development of mission-critical, modular services with high availability
• Design and implementation of highly scalable systems with a focus on low latency and high availability
• Management and responsibility for backend services and integrations, including data processing engines
• Contribution to the development of frameworks and libraries for the standardization of processes
• Preparation of technical documentation, runbooks, API design documentation, and operational guides
• Conducting code reviews, managing deployment pipelines, and monitoring system health
• Mentoring engineers, facilitating design sessions, and promoting engineering quality initiatives
• Coordinate with other platform teams to ensure compatibility and the reuse of shared services
• Participation in on-call rotations and promotion of improvements in reliability
• Representing the engineering discipline in cross-functional meetings and planning cycles
• Serve as a technical team lead for core AI/ML platform components
• Architecture of Microservices, Data Pipelines, and Agent Runtime Infrastructure

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in enterprise software development
• Proven practical expertise in the development and operation of distributed systems
• Extensive development experience in Go, TypeScript, and React
• Familiarity with modern cloud and eventing technologies
• Experience with Kubernetes and GitOps
• In-depth knowledge of microservices, event-driven architecture, and asynchronous processing
