Senior Principal, Data Architect

Tasks

- Leads all aspects of data solutions, including solving complex problems, establishing data standards, and providing technical expertise to development teams on best practices, systems, and architecture - Handles the most complex IT data architecture projects involving multiple disciplines or ambiguous IT architecture issues, and coordinates with users to determine requirements - Provides comprehensive consulting, training, and guidance to business units, less experienced staff, and IT system architects - Designs data architectures and solutions that are available and scalable - Designs effective data solutions that consider effective capacity planning, data tiering, and data lifecycle management - Designs automated data import procedures for on-premises and cloud data sources - Ensures solutions, training, and documentation are successfully delivered to the internal data team - Recommends solutions to improve new and existing data storage and analytics systems - Participates in code reviews and creates documentation for engineering and cross-functional practices

Requirements

- Specialized knowledge of data architecture, excellent consulting skills, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, management, and team members - Proven experience in the architecture of enterprise data solutions - Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or data programming, or equivalent experience - 15+ years of experience in relational database design, including Azure, SQL Server, or Oracle - 5-10 years of experience with cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake) - Experience with data mesh and data platform modernization is a plus - Experience designing large data warehouses - 10+ years of experience with ETL - Experience with shell scripts and Python - Experience with data lake architectures is a plus - Experience migrating traditional databases to cloud platforms - Experience with predictive analytics is a plus - Project management experience is a plus - Experience in team management, communication, and presentation - Experience with Azure (ADF, ALDS, Synapse, Databricks) - Understanding of data governance and experience with Collibra and/or other data governance tools
