Senior Principal - Data Protection and Cyber Recovery Engineer
Northern Trust is seeking a Senior Principal Data Protection and Cyber Recovery Engineer in Pune, India, who will be responsible for developing and implementing data protection and cyber recovery solutions in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure). The candidate should have at least five years of experience, in-depth knowledge of data security, and the ability to provide technical guidance and collaborate within global teams.
Tasks
- Design, implementation, and further development of enterprise architecture designs for the Northern Trust platforms in AWS and GCP cloud environments
- Providing innovative solutions for data recovery, data security management, protection against ransomware attacks, and cyber recovery
- Providing technical guidance and support to customers and internal teams regarding data recovery and data backup solutions
- Development and maintenance of data recovery and data backup procedures and policies
- Troubleshooting and Resolving Issues Related to Data Recovery and Data Backup
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure the successful delivery of data recovery and cyber recovery services
- Maintenance and monitoring of data recovery, data backup, and cyber recovery systems and tools
- Documentation and Reporting on Data Recovery and Data Backup Activities
- Performing daily maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting tasks for data backup solutions
- Collaborating with suppliers and third-party providers to resolve issues and provide technical support
- Providing training and guidance to junior team members
- Performing impact analyses, server and VM restores, and data backups using appropriate tools
- Development of data recovery and data backup plans
- Implementation of robust data backup and cyber recovery solutions
- Working with customer infrastructures and data backup and cyber recovery environments
- Ensure that all systems and procedures comply with company policies
- Optimizing Performance, Scalability, and Costs Through the Use of Container Technologies and Tools
- Modernization of existing technology platforms, data backup, and cyber recovery solutions
- Ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, SEC guidelines, and industry best practices
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in the areas of data recovery, data backup, disaster recovery, and cyber recovery
- Strong foundation in IT and network technology
- Comprehensive knowledge of data recovery techniques and best practices
- Experience with data recovery and backup tools and software (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, NetApp ONTAP)
- In-depth knowledge of backup and disaster recovery technologies
- Strong understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server, and Linux operating systems
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Knowledge of network protocols and security best practices
- Strong understanding of data security and cybersecurity
- In-depth knowledge of AWS, GCP, Azure, and related technologies
- Experience with cloud-based data recovery and data backup solutions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
