The Senior Principal - Software Asset Management (SAM) is responsible for leading and optimizing software asset management at Northern Trust and developing strategies and processes for an effective SAM program. The focus is on the analysis, design and continuous improvement of SAM processes and functions.

Sr Principal, Senior Principal - Software Asset Management (SAM)

Tasks

  • Lead the optimization of analysis, design, or re-design of SAM, APM to support the effective operation of controls supporting the Software Asset Management function.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize key data reports to inform insights that contribute to improvement in processes that deliver efficiencies.
  • Lead roamapping activities to deliver best-in-class capabilities to support ITAM with focus on Software Asset Management and Application Portfolio Management.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships across multiple functions to support software asset management throughout its lifecycle
  • Measure improvements to SAM through meaningful metrics, KPIs, KRIs and KCls.
  • Work with stakeholders to continuously monitor and innovate software asset management processes and best practices
  • Build a collaborative and productive relationship with team members managing the enterprise license position for software publishers across all divisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Management, or a related field and 10 years of related work experience (of which 5 years must be post-baccalaureate, progressive related work experience).
  • Must have 5 years of consulting experience or internal consulting experience.
  • Must have 5 years of experience managing a team
  • Experience leading a Software Asset Management program
  • Experience presenting to Executive management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Complete understanding of software lifecycle management
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to respectfully deal with colleagues at all levels within the company and represent the company externally
  • Excellent ability to schedule meetings in a global environment being respectful of time zones
  • Experience working cross functionally with enterprise program management
  • Excellent understanding of ISO19770 framework to capitalize on building a strong SAM program
  • Strong understanding of ITIL
