About the role

As a Staff Engineer, you are an experienced individual contributor who combines deep technical expertise with team influence. You lead by example - guiding implementation decisions, mentoring engineers and tech leads, and shaping technical practices that make our systems more secure, resilient and maintainable.

You will work directly on solving high-impact problems and collaborate with tech leads, architects, product, security and platform teams to improve the scalability, performance and developer experience of systems. You will also contribute to the evolution of our technical principles and long-term technical strategy.

Main tasks

• Design and implement secure, scalable back-end systems in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Creation and promotion of reusable libraries, design patterns and technical standards that promote consistency and quality.
• Mentoring engineers and tech leads in system design, performance and safe practices.
• Leading technical decisions and trade-offs across domains to improve maintainability and speed of delivery.
• Promoting observability, testability and operational resilience throughout the development cycle.
• Review and contribute to RFCs, design documents and decision protocols to align teams and provide clarity.

Ideal candidate

• Experience in designing complex back-end systems in regulated or highly trusted environments.
• Strong understanding of system performance, observability and secure software development.
• Background in incident management and building resilient, fault-tolerant systems.
• Proven mentoring and cross-team influence on technical decisions.
• Collaboration capabilities across product, platform, architecture and security roles.
• Familiarity with modern technical practices: CICD, IaC (Terraform), Kubernetes, AWS.
• Expertise in Java (Quarkus) or NodeJS (NestJS), with a willingness to learn the other.
