About the role

As a Staff Engineer, you are an experienced individual contributor who combines deep technical expertise with influence across teams. You will lead by example by guiding implementation decisions, mentoring engineers and tech leads, and shaping technical practices that make our systems more secure, resilient and maintainable.

Main tasks

• Design and implement secure, scalable back-end systems in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Creation and promotion of reusable libraries, design patterns and technical standards that promote consistency and quality.
• Mentoring engineers and tech leads in system design, performance and safe practices.
• Leading technical decisions and trade-offs across domains to improve maintainability and speed of delivery.
• Promoting observability, testability and operational resilience throughout the development cycle.
• Review and contribute to RFCs, design documents and decision protocols to align teams and provide clarity.
• Collaborate with platform and engineering leadership to improve CI/CD, developer tools and system reliability.
• Support incident response and lead root cause analysis to drive systematic improvements.
• Researching and piloting new technologies that improve performance and developer experience.

Ideal candidate

• Experience in designing complex back-end systems in regulated or highly trusted environments.
• Strong understanding of system performance, observability and secure software development.
• Background in incident management and building resilient, fault-tolerant systems.
• Proven mentorship and influencing skills on technical decisions across teams.
• Collaboration capabilities across product, platform, architecture and security roles.
• Familiarity with modern technical practices: CICD, IaC (Terraform), Kubernetes, AWS.
• Expertise in Java (Quarkus) or NodeJS (NestJS), with a willingness to learn the other.
