Stewardship Analyst

As a Stewardship Analyst at Man Group, you will support the Stewardship team in implementing engagement and voting approaches, including monitoring voting activities and analyzing company data with regard to ESG criteria. The position involves working with portfolio managers, investors, and company representatives to promote sustainable investment.

Job description: Stewardship Analyst

Tasks

  • Coordinating daily relations with our proxy voting research provider
  • Pursuing consistent and informed proxy voting activities to ensure the timeliness and completeness of research and recommendations
  • Supporting the stewardship team in analyzing third-party reports and responding to questions from portfolio managers/clients regarding proxy voting
  • Preparation of detailed election reports for various interest groups
  • Establishment of new funds for proxy voting by completing fund documentation and communicating with our proxy advisor and clients
  • Monitoring of stock account setups through Man's control framework to mitigate and strengthen proxy voting risks

  • Collaborating with portfolio managers and other investors to achieve tangible results within companies
  • Using company disclosures, third-party research, and other available resources to conduct non-financial analysis and assess companies' compliance with ESG market standards
  • Identifying risks and opportunities to inform the investment team's decision-making
  • Engagement with company representatives of listed and unlisted portfolio companies to discuss ESG issues

Reporting and policy updates

  • Responding to questions about engagement and proxy voting based on due diligence questionnaires or requests for information
  • Maintenance of stewardship-related policies and contribution to international stewardship code requirements

Requirements

  • Experience in sustainable investment roles, either at another financial institution or research provider, or in a similar field
  • Degree in finance, economics, business administration, law, or another relevant subject
  • Professional qualifications in finance or ESG, such as CFA, CFA Level I
  • Knowledge of corporate governance, stewardship, and shareholder rights and responsibilities
  • Experience in managing a large stewardship monitoring assignment
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Motivated self-starter who is organized, structured, and proactive
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, and create value for the team
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented and suited to problem solving and holistic thinking
